In Memory of Iva Ross Lange


Iva Mae Ross Lange passed from this life to eternal life on Wednesday, June 3, 2015. She was a retired Medical Secretary and a sixty year member of City Road United Methodist Church. Through the years she served in many capacities in the church as a children’s Sunday school teacher, a member of the United Methodist Women and the choir. In later years she was a member and rotating teacher of the Collier Sunday School Class and the Quilting Group, helping to provide quilts for children through the Linus Program.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Herbert Paul Lange, USCG Retired. Following his retirement they traveled extensively by RV around the country.

She was born April 11, 1931 in Lowland, NC, (Pamlico County), the daughter of the late Coolidge M. and Ophelia Lewis Ross and one of six children. She leaves one brother, Bobby R. Ross and wife, Patricia Miller Ross of Virginia Beach. Preceding her in death were three brothers, Carol D. Ross, Vance L. Ross, Coolidge Ross, Jr. and one sister, Alberta Ross Funell.

She is survived by a son, Paul David Lange and wife, Elizabeth Mobley Lange; three grandchildren, Kari Lange Balfanz and husband, Greg of Cary, NC; David Ross Lange of Dallas, TX and Douglas Michael Lange of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and a great granddaughter, Elise Mae Balfanz.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at City Road United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, NC; immediately following the service at the church; and at all other times at the residence. Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be made to the City Road United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 535, Elizabeth City, NC, 27909.
